The joint drill to verify readiness of the emergency unit of the specialised section of the Special Service for Water Supply in Emergency and certain selected organisations, in cooperation with the Administration of State Material Reserves to supply population with drinking water in emergency was conducted in the town of Opava and its surroundings on the days of 9 and 10 September 2008. The objective of the drill consisted in the solution of crisis situations, caused by drinking water insufficiency arising as a consequence of the state of emergency situation, by an organisational unit of the System for Supplying Population with Water in Emergency. TESLA – Water Treatment Solutions participated, as the supplier of transportable water treatment plants, in this two-days drill in joint effort with the regional secretaries of safety from all the regions of the Czech Republic, the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Administration of State Material Reserves, the Ministry of Interior (the Fire and Rescue Force), the Army of the Czech Republic and other concerned units and organisations.

The main part of the programme comprised the demonstration of the provision of drinking water supply in emergency employing VIWA transportable water treatment plants made available by TESLA. The demonstration was conducted at two locations, i.e., in the village of Hoštice and the town of Opava. First, the operation of the VIWA 5 HLS transportable water treatment plant was demonstrated in Hoštice near Opava, where water from an underground source was used for drinking water production. Then the attendants moved to the other place of demonstration, the premises of the historical municipal water treatment plant of then Opava town. There, the VIWA 5 STANDARD transportable water treatment plant and the new VIWA 2 MF OFFROAD unit were put into operation to demonstrate drinking water production using the Opava River as the water source. The water treatment system was complemented with both the VIWA PACK 750 PET bottling line and the VIWA BLOW PET bottle blowing line to obtain the final product in consumer packing. The interesting demonstration of water treatment and drinking water production was followed by the tasting of the drinking water produced and the representatives of both the manufacturer and the owner of the equipment answered questions concerning the particular equipment units shown in operation.

Other part of the drill comprised a seminar concerning the update of the Guideline of the Ministry of Agriculture governing the steps to be taken by the regional and municipal authorities to provide for the emergency supply of the public with water in extraordinary situations. As a part of the agenda, the director of the Water Treatment Solutions Division of TESLA introduced the complete range of VIWA products developed for the situations of crisis and shared his wide and long-term experience in solving emergency situations with the attendance. The company TESLA, believes it will provide for supplying the inhabitants of Czech Republic with quality drinking water in emergency even in the future.
